"THE GREEN POLICE"

MILITARY EFFECTIVES

DECISION AT GENEVA

GENEVA, May 2. Important decisions affecting German military strength were reached by the Effectives Committee of the Disarmament Conference, which, by 12 votes to 3 declared that 38,000 officors and 'men of the Prussian polica force, known as the "Green Police," hvust bo included in the :200~,000 effectives permitted Germany under the British plan. The American representative, Colonel Strong, voted against their inclusion, probably because the United States National Guard and State Constabulary may be considered in the same category. Colonel Strong said that Germany requires an effective police force which,1 though trained on tho military plan,, cannot be regarded as soldiers. j Tho committee also decided, by 7 1o 6 votes, that tho Nazi auxiliary special j constabulary formed from the Brown Shirt organisation, cannot be considered aa part of the effective armed forces.
