H. D, Bennett (Combined) is best known perhaps as » former chairman of the Works Committee of the City Cou* ci! and the prime mover in connexion with the bitumen road paving schemes. Mr. Bennett is ex-president of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce and was a foundation member of the City and Suburban Highways Board, Water Board, and, Fire Board. Ho bas been a member of the Harbour Board for many years; .He has been chairman of tue Carillon Society ever since its foundation. * . ♦ .*. * • K. Darroch is well known as secretary of the Navy League, and secretary of tbe New Zealand branch of the Cancer Campaign Committee. He contested tho Wellington Central scat at the last General Election. • • • *■ -r *. \. • P. Fraser, M.P., (Labour) is well known in political and industrial circles. Ho has represented Wellington Central since 1918, and also was a City Councillor from 1919-33. He is a former president of tho New Zealand Labour Party, and has been secretary of the Parliamentary Labour Party since 1919. He was chairman of the New Zealand Labour Party conference recently held at Auckland. Mr. Fraser contested the Mayoralty in 1923, when he fluiihed close to the successful candidate in a three-cornered contest. For the past two years he has1 been president of the Labour Representation Committee. F. A. Macindoe (Combined), born in New Zealand, bas held the position of secretary of the Merchant Service Guild of New Zealand since 1915. He was on tbe Northland School Committee for eight years, and on the committee of the Northland Ratepayers' Association for a number of years." He has had experience in sail and steam in different parts of the world, and has served as a member of tbe "Harbour Board for tbe last six 1 years. «•• • • • R. H. Nimmo (Combined) Is the youngest candidate for the Harbour Board on the ticket. He is a Justice of the Peace, chairman of the Citizens' Executive for Youth Unemployment, president of the Wellington V.M.C.A., and immediate past-president of the Wellington Show Association. He is life Chieftain of the. Wellington Caledonian Society. Mr. Nimmo Is also chairman of the Game Committee of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society. He has served on, and is connected with, many public bodies. . * •' • • C. J. B. Norwood (Combined) is an ex-Mayor of Wellington aud a successful business man. As a councillor Mr. Norwood put forward proposals for improvement in the milk supply, and was largely the founder of the present system. As Mayor he was responsible for the institution of the Fire , Bo A rd, and later for the very successful Cif* Ambulance service. Has been a member of the Harbour Board for 15 years, and maintains that the progress of the port and of the city are interdependent. He is the present chairman of the Harbour Board, and is also ex-presldent of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce.
