KENTUCKY DERBY ENTRY
For the Kentucky . Derby, of 50,000 dollars, to be run on May 6, the entries, which closed on February 1 last, totalled 118, the principal contributors being W. S. Kilmer,.with seven, and Colonel E. R. Bradley with' six; ' ■■ . E-rything that showed any; form last year was nominated, £5 accompanying each entry, and for that amount a horse can remain in the race lintil' the day before its decision. It costs another ■ £100 to start, and the sweepstakes and entrance fees go tp the owner of the winner. There are 6000 dollars for second, 3000 dollars for third, and 1000 dollars for fourth. The closing of entries only three months before the race, instead of up to sixteen months, as is the custom, for a Derby in Australia or New Zealand, saves owners, trainers, and club officials a lot of worry, and might well be worth a trial in both these countri.ee,
