ONE-LEGGED RIDERS
The incident of the • two one-legged licensed riders referred to in a recent telegram occurred at the inaugural meeting of the Roxburgh Trotting Club last month. The chief stipendiary steward (Mr. F. J. Beer) had attended that meeting, and he ■was very surprised to find two such legless'men riding in races there. At first glance this state of affairs'might not appear complimentary to the Licensing Committee, Mr. Beer reported to the Trotting- Association, but it should be made clear that they had to rely.on thp local secretaries to watch this, and he took it that the responsibility was on them for endorsing the licences of men so labouring under a physical disability.
