Strong ; westerly, and in places south-west-erly, winds have\ prevailed and the weather^ has been generally squally and changeable with Intermittent rain in all but ,tho eastern provinces, A few places have reported ha.il showers, and snow lias also fallen on some' of the South Island ranges. .
