NEW SENIOR A TEAM
HUIA REPLACES V.M.C.A.
NEWS FROM THE CLUBS
"When it was announced that the V.M.C.A. Club would not be fielding a senior A team this season it was thought by some in hockey circles that there would be only five teams competing for the senior championship. Six' clubs, however, will probably be repre- j sented in the senior A grade, the Huia Club, which has long expressed a desire i to enter a team in this grade, taking the place of V.M.C.A. Tho Huia Club* has made rapid strides during the last year or two, and the membership now stands at about 80. Over eighteen now members, have joined up this season. Most of last year's players will again bo taking the field, and the indications at present point to the club making a strong bid for championship honours. Gymnasium training commenced in March aiid is now in full swing, and a successful practice was held on April 15. A second practice is to be held, and this wili give the selectors a further opportunity of studying form and placing players so as to enter j teams capable of holding their own in the various grades.
