MINISTER'S ACTION
APPROVED BY MEN
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) , AUCKLAND, April' 20. . The Mac Donald, Glen Afton, Eenown, and Taupiri mines are still idle, and there is little prospect of the work being resumed until the Undcr-Secretary of Mines (Mr. A. H. Kimbell) has completed his investigations. Tho conference has been called at the instigation of the Minister of Mines. Although the district council of the Miners' Union declines to make any official statement, it is learned that the men strongly approve of the Minister's action in intervening. It is.pointed out that similar action settled the last strike in one round-the-table conference of owners and men presided over by. the Minister of Labour. This was accomplished after a strike had continued for several weeks.
