WAIRARAPA ELECTIONS
(Special to "The Evening Post.") MASTERTON, This Day. A surprise was sprung yesterday when it was found that the nominations for the Masterton Borough. Council were two short of the required number. At the last minute Mr. A. Rippoh, a retiring councillor, decided not to seek re-election, while, on account of having been misinformed as to the closing date of nominations, Mr. Trevor, Beetham,. another retiring councillor, who was away on holiday, did not have his nomination in. He is being • nominated, however, for one of tho two extraordinary vacancies which- now exist. The nominations received were: Messrs. H.J. O'Leary, E. Eussell, AY. L. Free, H. M. Peacock, AY. AVhite, A. D. Low, W. H. Judd (all retiring members), C. H. Anderson, W. Kemp (ex-councillors), and J. R. Barr. The-closing day for nominations for the ,two extraordinary -vacancies is May 5. The two borough representatives on the AVairarapa Power Board, Messrs. E. J. King and H. P. Hugo, are re-elected unopposed. Four nominations were received for three seats on the Wairarapa Hospital Board, those of Mrs. AY. H. Jackson, Messrs. J. C. Ewington, and H. H. Danioll (retiring members), and Mrs. A; Fletcher. .
