, (By Telegraph.) ,• (Special to "The Evening Post.") MASTEBTON, This Day. Apparently having been fatallykicked by a horse and then dragged some distance, Mr. Robert Oliver Smith, ,a well-known and highly-respected citizen of Bideford, met his death yesterday. Ho had been a. resident of the Wairarapa for'the greater part of his life.- ' The late Mr. Smith was fatally kicked by an unbroken horse, which he had yarded at his Bideford property, "Earlyhurst." Ho became entangled in a rope attached to the horse, which broke logse) dragging him with it, and his body was found some time afterwards on a steep bank. There was no witness of the tragedy. The cause of death'was head injuries. Born in the South Wairarapa in 1869, Mr. Smith was educated privately and served as a cadet on the late Sir George Hunter's station at Porangahau. After being employed by Messrs. Levin and Co. as a stock agent, he took up farming at Bideford. Ho was a steward of the Masterton Eacing Club, an > active member of the A. and P. Association, and a member of the Board of Governors of St. Matthew's Collegiate School. •'
