SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION
At a meeting of the Wellington Sunday School Union held in the Trinity Congregational Church, Lower Hutt, last evening, a discussion took place on "Music .in the Sunday School." Mr. P. F. Masters, the principal speaker, spoke on the atmosphere created in the school by music, and stressed the lasting impression made on the child's memory by. good music heard in its early years. Messrs. Howe, t Kersley, Haggett, Burt, and Steele also spoke on the subject. ;'■■..< . The president, Mr. Alexander Johnston, explained what had been done in regard to the Easter Convention at Palmerston North, which promised' to be very successful. There were 59 delegates from various districts, and it was expected that there would, be a large'attendance of the Palmerston North people. >Mr. Johnston urged those present to take an active part in creating interest in the examination to be held on this quarters lessons. ' The meeting decided to postpone any consideration of: providing shields for competition until tinies improve. ■."'". The first rally for the- year of the Wellington Presbyterian Sunday School Teachers' Association was held on Wednesday last at> St. Stephen's Church, Lower Hutt. At 6.15 p.m. nbout 80 teachers representing schools from all parts of the city and stfuurbs sat down to a most enjoyable tea, prepared by the local teachers. After' tea about 100, were present at a rally service, when a talk on' "The Ideal Sunday School Teacher" was given by Miss Wilson, the S.S. representative on the Youth Committee of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand. A short devotional message was also given by the Eev. Mr. Lopdell, of St. Stephen's. During the evening the opportunity was taken of presenting a token of appreciation .to the retiring president, Mr. N, D. Macleod. after, eight years' service.
