\ (Received April 6, 2 p.m.) OTTAWA, April 5. After a, long contentious course xt£ the Senate the Bill to legalise sweepstakes received its third reading by 31 votes tq 24 on Wednesday. 'The Bill now goes to the House of Commons. The BUI provides, that the Attorney General in any province may authorise a sweepstake, the profits to go to a charitable institution or institutions.
The charitable institutions are limited to hospitals. Only one sweepstake could be held in any one province in A single year! , : .■.'■. , ■ ■ ,
