CASES DISMISSED
An unusual feature of today's proceedings at the Magistrate's Court was the dismissal of three cases through the want of prosecufion. A private prosecution against' David Kussell Thompson,'-who was charged with stealing a motor belonging to Arthur Lionel Hammond, was withdrawn unconditionally on the application of counsel for the complainant. No evidence was offered by the police in. the case of John Douglas Brew, a steward, rfged 28, who' was charged with committing rape. The Magistrate accordingly struck the case out. A. case against Jolm Paton. Hardy, a compositor, aged 28, who was charged with stealing a lady's cape, was dismissed without prejudice when Detec-tive-Sergeant Bevell intirjiated that the police would offer .no..evidence.
