TELEPHONE RENTALS
MASTERTON REQUEST

MASTEETON, This Day. That there was room for a reduction in telephone rentals and also in the rentals charged in Mast;erto,n for postal boxes was urged by several members at yesterday's meeting of the Chamber of Commerce, and a resolution relating to both charges was forwarded to the Associated Chambers.
The chamber also decided to recommend that the compilation of th« Wairarapa Telephone Directory should be amended in some respects. It is to be suggested that names starting with "Mac" should be grouped at tho beginning of the M list, followed bynames starting with J'Mc." Tfcis, it was urged, would be much less confusing than the existing arrangement. The P. and T. Department is also to be asked to resume the publication of the numbers directory, which formerly enabled subscribers to ascertain the identity of anyone leaving a nunibei; to be rung, up.
