PRIZE MONEY, SUGGESTION

The report recorded its Indebtedness to Mr. J. E. Pitt and his committee, who worked successfully and arduously for the welfare of the club. Three teams competed in the intcrclub tournament. The B team won the B grade championship without the loss ol a match. The A and C grade teams were fourth and sixth respectively. The winner of the. club championship, Mr. "* Hunter, was congrjituljitstl on liis very con-'-Eistent and excellent' marksmanshin. Mrs. Con■greve won the ladies' championship, and tied for first place in the New Zealand championship (ladies' champion). The following were thanked for trophies:— Messrs. P. Gill, D. Bowie, J. Rennie, Wm. C: Robinson, W. H. Tisdall, Ltd., and Percy Stewart.. The ladies were thanked for ■ their services to the club. The club holds its opening tomorrow evening, and the following week will bo devoted to a combined friendly and practice shoot. , BROOKLYN CLU& During a recent visit to the Brooklyn Club the writer was afforded an opportunity of "trying out" one of its new rifles. Members are congratulated on their-work'on the range. The season will bring out tho best in the club and every good wish for a successful year is accorded it. Intending members are assured of a cordial welcome. ONSLOW CLUB. The fourth annual general meetins of the Onslow Miniature Rifle Club was held, last month. Mr. S. Wright presided. The report commented favourably upon the careful handling of the club's finances, and stressed the importance of such watchful care. The following donors of trophies were thanked: —Mr. R. A. K. Porteous, A. B. Sievwright. The services rendered to the club, by Messrs. Harold Aplin, Vinsen, F. Monk, and Jeffs were, much appreciated. There was an improvement in the standard of marksmanship during the year, whilst the interest shown and the help given to the club by the members stimulated enthusiasm. New members are assured "of a cordial welcome. The club has already opened its season. PUBLIC SERVICE CLUB. last Thursday 'evening a full' muster of members of the Public Service Club took the opportunity of congratulating the president (Mr. H. V. Croxton) upon his recent Xew Zealand victory at Trentham. The club captain (Mr. L. R. Poutawera) said that they had met together to do honour to a fellow member, who had, for the. second time, achieved such a signal honour in winning the biggest event in Sew Zealand. For many years Mr. Croxton had maintained a position of prominence, and had, indeed, been a "thorn in the sides" of leading marksmen. Mr. Poutawera conveyed the heartiest congratulations of the club to Mr. Croxton and on behalf of the members handed to him a small gift, a charming example of the cabinetmaker's art. Mr. W. A. Klcholson,' vice-captain, presented an enlarged photograph of Mr. Croxton being "chaired." Mr. Croston's success, he said, was the result of consistency, regular training, and attention to detail. Mr. Croxton returned thanks. He spoke highly of the charm of outdoor rifle" shooting, into which so many different factors entered. His early days were not immediately productive of success; practice, perseverance, and training broujjl\t this. He advised miniature enthusiasts to give the outdoor sport a trial. WORKING MEN'S CLUB. The annual meeting of the Wellington Working Men's Miniature Rifle Club was held on Monday, March C. Mr/ H. J. Shanks was in the chair. The report and balance-sheet showed the club to be in a good financial position, despite a drop in membership during the season. The club once again owed its success to the donors of the twenty-five trophiSs keenly competed for during the season, and the/club thanked the people ana firms concerned for their support. The club entered two teams in the interclub competitions, one in the intermediate, and one in the C grade. They finished seventh and third respectively. The club also fired two - friendly matches, and three postal matches. At the end of the season it suffered a great loss in the person of its president, the late Mr. A. D. Pickard, and the sympathy of the club was extended to his family. The following officers were elected:—President, Mr. N. J. Shanks; vice-president, Mr P. Barchan; club captain, Mr. R. The club opens its season on Thursday with a president v. vice-president match. Practices will be-held for a period of three weeks before the trophy shooting is commenced. CORRESPONDENCE.
