EIGHT-OAK ROWING
AN INTERISLAND RACE?
As an added attraction for the iuterprovincia! eight-oar .rowing championship to be held" on' Wellington Harbour on April 1 it has been suggested by Mr. T. M. Hinkley, a member of the Wellington Rowing Association, that after the championship has been decided- crews should be selected to represent the North and South Islands in an interisland contest. In making the suggestion at last night's meeting of the association Mr. Hinkley said that the race would have to. be more or less in the nature of an unofficial event as there was not sufficient time to make proper arrangements. Members of the association considered the suggestion an excellent one, and it was decided to write to the New Zealand Rowing Council asking if it would be possible to hold an informal race.
