PRAISE FOR AMBULANCE

DOING A NOBLE WORK

Many letters of appreciation of services renderpd are received by the Wellington Free Ambulance Board, of which the following are typical:

-"My family and I desire to convey to you and your staff very great appreciation of . your kindly .services. . . .. Tho Wellington Free Ambulance is doing a noble work, and we feel under a deep debt of gratitude for the care and attention shown to our dear one who has been spared so much discomfort through the agency of your society and its splendid equipment, and the gentle' care taken of those who are suffering from accidents and operations." A substantial donation was enclosed.

"I wish particularly to thank tho men for all their care and consideration for me. They were so gentle in their handling and so careful for my comfort. I feel that the city has a great asset m such a competent and efficient service." The sum of £1 Is was enclosed "in grateful recognition of your services.'"

Another letter of appreciation before today's meeting of.the board was from the Wellington Indian Society, which forwarded a donation of £8 i3s 9d. The superintendent (Mr. F. Roffe) said that' a donation had also been made by the Chinese Society. ■ The chairman (Mr. C.J. B. Norwood) said that the letters showed that gratitude was more valuable than a> scale of charges which might not be collected.
