MISSION IN AMERICA
United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received March 10, 10 a.m.) ■ NEW YORK, March 14. Sir Henry Thornton, former chairman of the Canadian National Railways, died here on Tuesday from complications of pneumonia and uraemic poisoning following an abdominal operation last Wednesday. He was aged 62.
Since his retirement from the Canadian National Sir Henry had been much in the public eye. Lately he'had boon sent for by President Roosevelt with whom he talked over the railroad problems of the United States, particularly labour questions. His illness came, just as the leaders of the American Federation of Labour were joining with the Canadian Labour heads in organising a testimonial dinner to him at New York, a unique honour.
