FOUNDERING' FEARED

SUFFICIENT LIFEBOATS

MANY SHIPS TO RESCUE

(Received March 15, 11 a.m.)

SYDNEY, March 14. Fears ,are now entertained that the silence of the Kinsen Maru after the noon message ou Monday -is accounted for by her sudden foundering. Hope, however, has not been abandoned, as there are more than sufficient lifeboats to aceoinmodato the whole crew. Last night the master of the Talleyrand wirelessed that he had searched from 2 o'clock until dark in a northerly direction from the position given by tho Kinsen Maru at noon on Monday, but had seen nothing. He would continue the search during the night.

From all points eighteen ships near the Kinsen Maru's last-known position will converge today in a comprehensive search for the vessel.

Gale conditions were experienced yesterday along the Queensland coast. The progress of many ships is impeded.
