HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY
The Wellington Horticultural .Society's General Committee, which "met on Tuesday evening, and was presided over by Mrs. Knox Gilmer, fixed April 27 as the date of the autumn show, which will be held in the Town Hall. In regard to part, of the legacy of £100 received as a bequest under the will of the.late president, Dr. Arnold, Izard, and another amount, the secretary was empowered to open a ' Post., Qfh'ce Sayings Bank account, apart from the society's ordinary bank account. The judges nominated for the autumn show are as follows: —Chrysanthemums, Mr. D. Wall; dahlias, pot-plants, and cut flowers, Mr. T. Waugh; general classes, Mr. George Chapman; decorative, Miss F. Murray; fruit and vegetables, Mr. F. Westbury. The president announced that she had been asked by' the Free Kindergarten Union to give some assistance to that body and, with other members, had agreed to help by the issue of a booklet on gardening. Several members of the society had agreed to contribute useful articles to this work, and for the .most part they will be based on gardening experiences in the Wellington district.
