WEDDINGS
BURDAN—FRYEB. The marriage took place recently at Knox Presbyterian Church, Dannevirke, of Emma May, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Fryer, Dannevirke, and Arthur William, third son of Mr. and Mrs. G. G. Burdan, Eastbourne, Wellington. The bride, who was escorted by her father, -wore a gown of ivory figured ring -velvet, cut on slender lines, with sleeves puffing at the elbows. Her tulle veil was held in place with sprays of orange blossom, and she carried a sheaf of cream gladioli. The bridesmaids were Miss Cathie Fryer, who wore an apricot chiffon velvet frock and a Victorian hat of apricot felt, and Miss Amy Fryer, whose frock was of almond green chiffon -velvet, similarly cut. Both carried sheaves of apricot gladioli. The dainty flower girl, Miss Audrey Burdan (niece of the bridegroom), wore a frilled frock of pale green organdie. She carried a basket of pink tamarisk and heather. Mr. Lionel Burdan (Wainui-o-mata), cousin of the bridegroom, was best man, and Mr. Douglas Black (Dannevirke) was groomsman. The wedding music was played by M?ss J. Thorbnm. As the bride left the chureli she was presented with a satin horseshoe by little David Burdan (nephew of the bridegroom). A reception was held later, the bride's mother wearing a frock of navy satin, relieved with fawn, and hat to tone. She carried a sheaf of gladioli. The bridegroom's mother wore a brown crepe suede ensemble and matching hat. Her posy was of golden brown flowers. The grandmother of the bride, Mrs. C. gown of black crepe marocain, with touches of red. When the bride and bridegroom left for a motor tour of the North Island, the bride travelled in a nut brown ensemble.
