DAMAGES AWARDED
'. 'After a lengthy retirement, a jury, in the Supreme Court yesterday afternoon brought in a verdict for the plaintiff in the case in which Norman McLeod, a boatman employed by the "Wellington Harbour Board, claimed £382 damages s from, 'William. Ernest Trot, a lubrication engineer. The jury awarded. McLeod £51 13s special damages, and '£10 general damages, for injuries he received when he was knocked down by a car driven by the defendant. When the verdict had been announced Mr. C. A. li, Treadwell, who appeared witii Mr. E. L. A. Cres'swell for the plaintiff, asked for leave to be reserved to move within a week for a new trial on the ground that the award of general damages was too small. The Chief •fnstice (Sir Michael Myers) granted the application. ' Mt. W. P. Boilings appeared for the Befendant._
