A ROUGH AIR TRIP
(By Telegraph.) (Special to '*The Evening Post.") j MASTERTON, tfhis Day^ Flying the Waiicafapa • Aero Club's aeroplane ZK-AQD,. the club's ground engineer, Mr. J. H. Preston, returned to" Masterton last evening from Blenheim, after haying-been weather bound there since Tuesday morning. Mr. Preston, who carried- a-' passenger- on his' return .flight;, left Blenheim last evening at 6.10 o'clock and-arrived at Mastorton- at '7.40 pjm He found the conditions between- 200 and 1000 feet over the aerodrome here very rough. . Mr. Preston attempted -to. return to Masterton on Tuesday afternoon, having received a fair weather report. There was a fairly stiff breeze blowing when he left Blenheim, and he proceeded as far as Port ■ Underwood at an altitude of about 3000 feet. He then ran into a storm; He was unable to climb any higher, and the ' down draught ' encountered forced his inaehine flown 1500 feet in a'few minntos. The bumps were so severe that on throe occasions the engine stopped temporarily, ana a return to Blenheim was made, the North. Island not being visible. ■ ■
