SINGLES EVENT ' FINAL

The handicap singles event in the Wellington Croquet Association's tournament was decided this morning, when, after a close contest, Captain Hartnell beat Mrs. .Chetwin, 26-16. The greens were rather heavy after the rain". Eesults are as follows:— . , • HANDICAP SINGLES. Final.—Captain Hartnell beat Mrs. Chetwin, 26-16. WOMEN'S ASSOCIATE SINGLES. First Life.—Mrs. Greig beat Mrs. Mouat, 26-8. Semi-final.—-Mrs.- CaldoW' beat Mrs. Greig, 26-24, 26-19. LEVEL SINGLES. First Life.—Mrs. Boffe beat Mrs. Burd,: 26-21, 5-26, 26-3. Second Life.—Mrs. Bryant beat Mrs. Burd, 17-26, 26-21, 26-13. Mrs. Boffe beat Mrs. Norris, 26-6, 26-22. POST ENTRY. Mesdames Woodham and McDonald (12), b.eat Mrs. McKenzie and Miss Saunders (13), 26-18; Miss Bates and Mrs. Bedford (14) beat Mesdames Page and Nelson. (13), 26-22. INTER-CLUB MATCHES. The draw for play in the inter-club matches to-morrow is as follows:— , A Grade. —Kelburn (2) v. Wellington(2), Kelbura (1) v. Waimarie, (1) Mount Victoria v. Wellington (1), Hataitai v. Hutt, Ngaroma v. Eastbourne, Hataitai (2) v. Island Bay, Rangamaire has1 defaulted to Woburn, Maimarie (2) has defaulted to .Central. The intermediate gi*ade finished their official draw on 24th January. The B grade draw is as under:— Johnscuiville v. Island Bay, Ngaio v. Ngaroma, Mount Victoria v. Lyall Bay, Eastbourne v. Kelburn, Karori v. Wellington, Hataitai v. Waimarie, Central defaulted* to Woburn. In connection with the above d"raw, rule 10 provides that "all matches are to TSe suspended during, the local tournament," so if the tournament does not conclude to-day no club is compelled tp play its inter-club games tomorrow.
