INTERESTING PROGRAMME

A, comprehensive and interesting programme 'has been arranged for the jubilee celebrations. They, will begin at the college.at 9.3.0 a.m. on Friday, when. Miss McLean, and Miss Greig will call the roll by decades, and extend a.- welcome. . - After moriiing tea the old girls- :Will proceed to the . Town Hall, where .they will form parties of their ■ own- decade and march- around the hall. The Mayor . (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop) i will tender a civic reception, and Mr. Robert Parker, one of the foundation members of tho staff, will presid'e-at the organ. The official reception to ex-pupils will take place at the college in the afternoon, when short speeches will be given by some of those who have been closely associated with the 'school from"its' earliest- days. At this function-jubilee-gifts-will: be" "presented to the-college, and the-service tablet, presented by the old girls, will be unveiled. A striking clock, presented by the Wellington East Girls' College, -will also be unveiled, and jubilee trees will be planted. In. the evening a reunion dinner will Jbo held. It is expected that a -large; .number will attend, ex-pupils who.-intend being present are advised to send in their names early.:*. ■~".,,... ;, On Saturday morning ex-members of the. staff .and members of the present staffs qf the college and Wellington East Girls' College wil) be the guests of Hhe Old Girls' Association. In the afternoon a garden party will be held, and the Memorial Gates will be opened by the Governor-General. At this function a pageant, with ex-pupils dressed in the costumes of their decades,, will be presented. The "pageant h,as been arranged by Mrs. James Hannah, an old girl. In the evening ■a'carnival for ex-pupils only will be held. Old girls will dance with their school partners, and a burlesque bearing on "school days will be presented, as well as. a programme .by ex-^upils. On Sunday afternoon a thanksgiving service will be held in St. Paul's Pro--Cathedral', Canon James ■ oemg .the preacher. A recessional will; be read by Mrs. C. MacKenzie (Miss • Mary Cooley) -for. .the staff and old girls who have passed away.. The lessons will be iead. by Miss McLean" and'7Missj Greig, 'and Mri,.R. "Parker will .be the organist. ■ -The -choir will consist of college old girls. After the' service afternoon tea. will be served at the college, and an- opportunity will be given'for a final- exchange of greetings:'. : . ■ ■ -'..,. A reminiscence room will be set.; aside at the college, and old girls are asked to send, with their names and addresses carefully placed on the back, any photographs that may prove of interest during, the jubilee. .
