The com- ; petition comprised seven shots at 300, 500, and 600 yards, with. two.optional sighters A tricky wind and a rapidly changing 1 light made the shooting conditions very difficult, and under the circumstances the • scores were very good. The senior competition resulted in a win for the Karori "A" team, with an . aggregate score of 721 points, an' exceptionally fine performance under the bad weather conditions. ' Old Navals "B" team, with an aggregate of 714 points won the Junior Shield comfortably. This was an outstanding performance as they finished only 10 points behind the winners of the Senior Shield. Karori '_" team, . the previous holders of the Junior Shield, were unfortunate :n haviug only seveu men. The Upper Hutt senior team, which consisted of senior and junior shots, deserved to finish in a better position, having made an exceptionally good, score of 215 points at 300 yards.
