HAWKES BAY WEDDING

WELL-KNOWN FAMILIES

(From Our Own Correspondent.) HASTINGS,. This Day. A wedding of much interest in Hawkes Bay was solemnised at St. Luke's Church, Havelock North, on Saturday evening, when Lorna Elizabeth, only daughter of Major and Mrs. V. H. Seeker, Te Awanga, was marriedto James Douglas, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Glenny, Wilton, Haunioana. The Rev. Archdeacon McLean performed the ceremony, which was fully choral, and members of the singing circle of the Women's Institute sang several hymns. THE BRIDE AND BRIDESMAIDS. The bride, who was escorted by her father,_ wore a beautiful frock of pale gold ring velvet cut'on a close-fitting Princess line, the hips outlined by a curved tuck and the train falling from a peak at the back, short side paniers being finished with bunches of orange blossoms. Tho frock was sleeveless with a cowl neck, and the tulle veil (lent by the bridegroom's mother) was worn in Dutch style encircled with a wreath of orange blossom. She carried an envelope purse edged with pearls, and wore a string of seed pearls and pearl earrings (the gift of her parents). The three bridesmaids, Misses Mary Glenny, Margaret Glenny, and Kathleen Davis (Puketapu), were dressed alike m pale gold.satin frocks with yokes of net, and rucked bands inset to the knees, the full skirts being ground length. Sashes of the material were tied in a bow at the back, and the shoulder capes were edged with fur. Their caps were of gold net in Dutch style, and they carried' apricot coloured posies. The bridegroom's gifts of earrings were worn, and also strings of seed pearls. The best' man' was Mr. Malcolm McNeil (Puketitiri): and the: groomsmen Mr. Richard Seeker and' Mr. James Seeker. The Haumoana Girl Guides formed a guard of honour for the bridal couple to pass undery the bride' having been a very enthusiastic guide'r for several years. THE WEDDING RECEPTION. After the service a reception was held at the Farmers' Tearooms, where Mr. and Mrs. Seeker and Mr. and Mrs. Glenny welcomed the guests. \ Mrs. Seeker was in a black georgette frock with a yoke of French shadow .- lace, cut on Princess lines, a coat with long full sleeves and shawl collar, and a small hat of black velvet with a crystal buckle. Sho carried-a bouquet of apricot . flowers. Mrs. Glenny (mother of the bridegroom) wore a charming frock of grey lace with coatee to. match. Her hat was grey with pink flowers, and she held a bouquet of pink carnations and gladioli. The lounge- was -decorated with pale gold coreopsis and:"gladioli, and made a charming'setting' for the bridal party. The wedding cake was made by one of the Institute'members. The bride travelled iri a frock of floral crepe de chine, made with puffed sleeves, a^yoke and vest of beige georgette and an apron effect back and front finished with pleated frills. .Her ; coat was of beige rep,-and her hat of •beige felt. ....-.' -.>'.-'••_. The Country Dance Club, at'..Hail-. moana, presented the bride with a heavy brass card tray in the shape of a serpent, and another gift was a pair of oak bellows from the executive of the , .Guides. _ .'....-'■.
