WEATHER CHANGING
SHOWERS ANTICIPATED
The forecast issued'at noon to-day is for moderate to strong north to northwest winds, of gale force at times in parts of Cook Strait. The weather is likely to be mainly fair to cloudy, and warm in eastern districts. Rain, however, is developing in western' districts south ofiKawhia, and in Otago . and Southland. The conditions will become more generally showery during to-mbr-' row. . ■ .
The anticyclone which has controlled the weather of New Zealand for nearly a week is now moving eastwards^ and a westerly depression is approaching. "Winds have consequently become northerly or westerly in most places, and they have freshened somewhat in Cook Strait. The weather has been fair'to fine generally, with warp, temperatures, and-since last night rain has fallen at scattered places in the southern portion of the South Island.
At Wellington yesterday the day was dull, only 1.9 hours of sunshine being recorded. "A. fiorth-west breeze prevailed. '■■'■ ,
There was a continuance of fine weather in Auckland yesterday, a light south-west wind prevailing. \ . . ■ . Christchurch experienced a dull day yesterday, with occasional, drizzling rain, the wind being a light north-east. It was fair to cloudy at Dunedin yesterday, with very little wind. Light rain fell there early this morning.
