BANNER COMPETITION
The competition for the. Wellington Centre's water polo banner was commenced on Monday at the Te Aro Baths. The first game was between teams representing Lyall Bay and Maranui Clubs The teams were as follows:-Lyall Bay: G Williams, PEyan, R. Pelham, F. Mollier SiWn' f Bla£ ele# J- Willis. Mara! F A^,J? Up°n^ H- C}aTi^> C Claridge, F. Adam, P Edwards, I; MeHardy, T Hewitt. - A draw resulted, each side scor »8-t*o goals, H. Claridge and C. ClarTdg; being the scorers for Maranui and Melvor for Lyall Bay. On-Wednesday teams representing the Wellington and Worser Bay Clubs met, tfie Wellington team winning by 3 goals to 1 The teams were:—Wellington: N G. Amies, G. Watkinson, T. Clark, k' Spry, J. Thomas, G. Fookes, and H Gillespie. Worser Bay: E. White, L. Grimstone, J. Newport, W. Dougal, G. Warring, A. Hepburn, and K. Wilton. The scorers,for Wellington were Fookes, Gillespie, and Thomas, and Wilton was successful in shooting for Worser Bay. This game was one of lost opportunities by both, sides, through weak handling and poor placing. Mr. A. A. Somerville controlled both games.
