TARANAKI STREET CIRCUIT

The quarterly meeting of the Taranaki Street Methodist Circuit was held on Monday evening^the Rev. T. R. Richards presiding over a , large attendance of officials from- all parts of; the. circuit.. The chairman' welcomed two new members, ■ilessrs. B. O. Stokes and J. Thompson, and also the Rev. ■ Dr. Rnnston, principal of the Methodist Theological College- at Auckland.

The membership returns showed an increase of thirteen members for the circuit. The statement of income and expenditure was regarded as satisfactory. Permission was granted Webb street to hold Sunday school anniversary celebrations at the end of March, and it was decided to hold harvest festival celebrations on Sunday, 12th February. The election;of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—Circuit stewards, Messrs. L. J. Clark and R. S. Maunder; Foreign Mission secretary, Mr. Arthur Richards; Foreign Mission treasurer, Mr. R. E. Herron; representatives to the district executive, Messrs. Maunder, Clark, and C. H. Ham; representatives to conference at Auckland: in February, Messrs. R. S. Maunder and W. E. Howe. Mr. R. W. F. Balchin was appointed envelope secretary vice Mr. A. C. Barrington, who had given excellent service for many years. Appreciation of services rendered while members of the quarterly meeting was extended to Messrs. R. G. Denton and T. Stokes. Messrs. J. O. Priestley and R. S. Maunder reported upon the work and findings of the Methodist Synod held at Masterton in November. Mr. Maunder also commented favourably upon the Bible class conventions held at. Marsden Col-. lege and at Chilton House School at the New Year. The spirit of fellowship during the four days of camp life was excellent. After deciding that the next meeting would be held on Monday, 10th April, 1933, the meeting closed with a hymn and the benediction.
