■ '{By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ■" NEW PLYMOUTH, 18th January. ■ Beserved judgment was given, to-day in favour•of the defendant in a protracted ease in -which. Alfred Corkill, former chairman of the InglewoodCounty Council, alleged slander against' Eobt. Stuart, i;h© present chairman, and claimed £12 damages. . The claim, arose out of an election campaign in which Corkill was narrowly defeated by Stuart. Corkill alleged that Stuart had imputed improper practices to him in the administration, of the county, thereby bringing him into ill lepute and causing his defeat at the polls. : . : •■•;■.-•■. . The- Magistrate held that Stuart had merely attacked the. administration and had not imputed dishonesty to Corkill.
