A farewell party was tendered t'SI the superintendeut, Mr. James Gibson, at the Eitz on Tuesday night by the sales staff of the T. and G.'lnsurance Co. Mr. Gibson, who is leaving shortly for1 Scotland, was presented on behalf of! the staff with two travelling rugs for himself and Mrs. Gibson. Musical num-< bers were given by members of thej staff, and a pleasant evening was spent*!
Mr. Lewis Taylor, who was severely;! and extensively burned in an aviation!' casualty at Johnsbnville last Septem-<! ber, is still an inmate of a private! hospital. Mr. Taylor aha Mr. P. da Tourettes, both of whom are menibers of the Wellington Aero Club, were returning from an. air pageant at Levin: when they had engine trouble over, Johnsonville. Rather than risk land* ing in the schoolground and injuring children who' were playing there, Mr. Taylor attempted to land on the road, but the wing- of the machine touched: a telephone wire and the aeroplane; crashed into the side of the house,' Within a few seconds it was ablaze, and Mr. Taylor,: who was unable to; undo his safety belt, was shockingly, burned about the face and. body before being rescued by his companion! and some assistants. His condition fOl a fortnight was very grave indeed, bufi a fine, constitution enabled him to pull through. He has undergone . several operations, and it •will be some months yet before he is able to leave the! hospital. Among the guests at the Midland Hotel are Mr. Claude H.
