TO-DAY'S RESULTS

Many of the events in the Dominion croquet tournament are drawing to a close, and some excellent croquet is being witnessed. Tho games are considerably faster than at the commencement of tho tournament, thirty-nine games having boon completed yesterday on ten lawns. . In her game against Mrs. Piteaithly in the ladies' championship Mrs. Keyes played excellent croquet. Mrs. Pitcaithly opened scoring by carrying the blue ball to the No. 3 hoop. Mrs. Kcyes hit in a long shot, and made four hoops with the red ball. Her opponent failed to hit in, and Mrs. Keyes carried a forward ball to the rover hoop. Mrs. Pitcaithly's.lift shot brought no relief, and Mrs. Keyes carried ' the yellow with a well-played break from No. 1 to the stick. Again the lift shot was resultless for Mrs. Piteaithly, and Mrs. Keyes ran the last "hoop with the yellow and pegged out. From the time that Mrs. Keyes opened her scoring account and pegged out Mrs. Piteaithly had only four long and difficult shots, Mrs. Keyes winning the game by 26 to 2. In their game in the ladies' championship, Mrs. Brass and Mrs. Clark both played excellently. Mrs. Brass excelled herself by going with long and.well-played breaks with both balls to the stick, while Mrs. Clgik was able to run only three hoops.' The game ended 26-23. The contest in the ladies' championship between Mrs. Tiffen and Mrs. Caldow was a close one. Intermittent breaks were made. The closing stages were most interesting. In rolling up to_ the peg Mrs. Caldow's front ball missed, and she pegged out the ball. Mrs. Tiffen's balls were together on the line. She rolled over to the penultimate hoop, got perfect position, running the hoop,, also rover. Mrs. Tiffen retired to the side-line with a perfect rush, for her other ball to make rover hoop. Mrs. Caldow missed the shot. Mrs. Tiffen made the last hoop, cutting her partner ball to the peg, but missed with the front ball. She pegged one ball, leaving one ball each, on the lawn for the peg, Mrs. Caldow pegged out from the side line and won the game 26-25. ' , , . '

The, game in the championship doubles played yesterday afternoon between Mr. A. G. Ross and Mrs. Caldow against Mr. Stratton and Mrs. Palmer was very interesting. After the usual early manoeuvres for advantage, Mrs. Palmer and Mr. Stratton advanced their clips by short stages to No. 6 and No. 3 hoops respectively. Mrs. Caldow then moved her clip to No. 3 hoop. Mr. Ross had not started to score. Mrs. Caldow forged ahead to No. 5 hoop. The opposition hit in and by steady play kept well in front.' 'Mr. Ross here took a hand, and started out on a quadruple' peel in an attempt to put Mrs. Palmer on the stick. The movement was a particularly difficult one, and, although Mr. Ross played with skill he broke down after making several hoops. From this stage by accurate play Mrs. Palmer and Mr. Stratton forged ahead, Mr. Stratton making the^ best break of the game. He carried his ball through' tho last five hoops, and poclod his partner's ball through rover. Mr. Ross failed with a long shot, and Mr. Stratton finalised tho game by- a difficult peg out across a distance of six yards. Mi-. Stratton throughout played careful and faultless croquet.
