IN WHAT BUILDING?

NATIONAL FLOWER SHOW

STRONG FEELING AROUSED

Speaking at the Wellington Wintet Show Association's meeting last evening, Mr. T. Waugh said that although it had been decided to hold the National Flower Show of New Zealand in the Winter Show building, eertaia influences had got to work and th» Wellington Horticultural Society had threatened to withdraw altogether if the show was held in the Winter Show building; nor would the local society allow its plant to be used. The result of what had happened would be that the flower show to be held in AYellington would be in no sense a national one. Mr. Waugh said he had hoped that the national flower show would be held in the Wellington Show Association's spacious building and. grounds. Owing, however, as he had indicated, to tha opposition of a-member or members of the Wellington Horticultural Association, that arrangement would not now be carried out. That was a matter, for regret, for there was not space in the Town Hall for the holding of a national flower show. The change would mean a very depleted flower show compared with the exhibition originally intended. The chairman (Mr. C. J. B. Norwood) thanked Mr. Waugh for the effort he had made to have the national flower show held in the Wellington Show Association Is building. He especially regretted, that the opposition should have come from the Wellington Horticultural Society. Mr. Waugh said he still hoped that good would come out of the unfortunata opposition to the show being held in the association's building and grounds.
