Sir Berkeley Sheffield and Lady Arthur Grosveuor arrived in Wellington last -evening, and are the guests of the Governor-General and Lady Bledisloe at Government House. Mrs. C. W. Salmon, Parliament street, and her children, have returned to Wellington after a holiday spent in the country. ■ l Miss Margaret' Whyte and Miss Pamela Biddiford will leave at the end of the week to stay with Mrs. Wardell, "Te Whiti," Masterton, for the Wairarapa tennis tournament next week. Dr. and Mrs. Erie , Luke have returned to Wellington after a motor tour, of the North. Miss Macbean Stewart has returned to Christchureh. after a visit to the North Island. Miss Betty Macßao has returned to Palmerston North, after a holiday visit to Wellington. . ■- Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Lowry, Hawkes Bay, are visiting Wellington, and are staying at the Hotel St. George. Mr. Lowry is taking part in the New Zealand tennis championships at Miramar this week. Mrs. T. Weatherburn, jnr., is on a holiday visit to Auckland. ' . Miss Evelyn Todd, Masterton, is the guest of Mrs. "W. S. Pearco, Hobson street. At the end of this week Miss Todd and Miss Alison Pearce will leave for Masterton, where they will play in the Wairarapa- tennis, tournament. Mrs. H. J. Buck is a Wellington visitor to Auckland. Mrs. Pow left Wellington last evening for Timaru to attend the executive meeting of. the Women's Auxiliary of ,the New Zealand Farmers' Union, of which she is Dominion secretary. Mrs..Harold Blundell, Ngarknu, dud her daughter, who have been visiting Christehurch, returned from the South this morning on their way home. ' Mrs., John Paterson, Karori, returned to town to-day, after spending some weeks with Mrs. J, E. Hunt, at Titahi Bay. Mrs. A. L. Hill, Wellington, left yesterday by the Wanganclla for Milford Sound. Misses Aileen Smith and Noeleen Bishop, Sumner, have arrived in -Wellington to take, part in the tennis championships at Miramar this week. Mrs. A. Mason has returned to Wellington after a visit to her sister, Mrs. Ballagh, Cashmere, Christchurch. Misa Jocelyn Webb, who has been spending a holiday in Wellington, will return to Christchurch this week. On Saturday over 150 teachers and their friends will go across to Stewart Island to attend the Summer School at Halfmoon Bay (states an exchange). Mrs. Hubert E. Green arrived in "Wellington yesterday from. Auckland. Miss Helen Montague, who has been spending-the past week in Auckland, returned to Wellington yesterday. Berg and Miss Jean Berg, Now Plymouth, are spending the holidays with Captain Berg, Paremata, and Mrs. Edgar Pumfrey, Oriental Bay. Miss Grace 3Teek, Auckland, is spending a. holiday in Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. Maurico Anderson, Wellington, are visiting Eotorua. Mrs. A. E. Mitchell and her daughter, Miss L. M. Mitchell, have returned to. Wellington after an extended motor tour of the North Island. ' Misa Nora McLaren, Hataitai, who has been spending' a holiday in Auckland, is staying in- Eotorua for a few weeks before returning to Wellington. Mrs. S. Innds-Jones (Christchureh) and Mrs. MacCormick (Auckland) are among the guests at the Royal Oak Hotel. Mrs., J. S. and -Miss W.< McKay (Hawera) and Miss M. Fitzgerald (Gisborne) are staying at tha Empire Hotol. "Visitors to Wellington staying at the Grand Hotel include Mrs. Granger (New Plymouth) and Mrs. Forsytb. (Taihape). Among the guests at, the Hotel St. George are Mrs. W. Eichmond (Hastings), Mrs. E. D. Couper (Hayeloek North), Mrs. Samways' (Devon),' Miss Bolton (Devon), and Miss M. Blatehford (Sydney). Among the interesting visitors to the Dominion at present is Miss Grant Macdonald, a Canadian, who is spending a few months in New Zealand in the course of a leisurely tour of the world. Miss Maedonald has already spent some time in the smaller islands of the Pacific. She is a graduate of Toronto University, and until recently was on the staff of the Bishop- Strachan School at Toronto. Miss Macdonald has seen much of the North Island, and is proceeding to the South Island. She is much interested in the natural beauties of New Zealand. She made a visit to the bird sanctuary at Kapiti at Christmas time.
