BADLY BURNED
MAN IN SERIOUS CONDITION
(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.?') PALMEESTON N., This Day. As a result of a fire ia Florence avenue early this morning,. George Tremaine, aged 45 years, a well-known resident of Palmerston North, was badly burned about the body, and is now in hospital iv a fairly serious condition. Mr. Tremaine, who is a nightwatchman, is a bachelor, and lived alone in a two-roomed cottage in the avenue. He suffers from deafness.
Apparently he upset a candle near his bedside and made every effort to prevent the spread of the blaze, which started immediately, but failed, and was oadly burned in the effort. He gave the alarm at a street call box, and then went back to the cottage. On admission to the hospital he was found to be suffering from burns all over the body. I The house was badly gutted.
