CONSTABLE HEARS NOISE

! AUCKLAND, 12th January. [ A young1 man, Eric George Oliver, Avaa assaulted and robbed by two men in Myers Park last night at. ll^o.' Constable Massey heard voices coming from the direction of a convenience at the lower end of the park, and flashing vis tprch alongside the convenience saw three men struggling on the ground. lwo men were punching a third with their fists. ~ . . Several letters and a bank passbook belonging to Oliver were scattered on the grass. : At 2 o'clock this morning, Constable Massey went to, Beresford street and arrested a nian there. They tore, his left trouper pocket, and turned his,inside coat, pockefc out, also pulling up his shirt to see if he wore a money belt. Oliver's injuries consisted of a blow on the left eye, with abrasions, while one of his teeth was broken off. This morning, Claude Haiold Miller, aged 21, and Leslie John Walding, aged 24, hawker, alleged to bo the men concerned in tho affray, appeared in Court charged with assaulting Oliver, ana robbing him of 3s 3d, ana at the time, or_ immediately before such robbery, using personal violence.
