In the House of Commons, Mr. P. A. Hurd (C.) asked whether Mr. Mac Donald was aware that currency differences were tending to nullify the benefits of the Ottawa agreements to Canada and othe* parts of the Empire, and whether Britain would call an early conference with! the Dominions on the subject. . • -. Mr. Mac Donald said that he had nd reason to believe such a conference would be effective, and he had received no request for onefrom.the Dominion*

LONDON, 2Sth November. In the House of Commons Dr. Lesli9 Burgin, Secretary to the Board of Trade, in answer to questions, said that the meat trade was fully alive to the desirability of regulating the flow of meat into the British market, and waa working with that object. He was unaware that meat importing firms would make an additional profit estimated at £600,000 out of the meat quota schema by a rise in the price of stocks held ift' ■ Britain, and he did not propose to ["take steps to limit the-profits of moinopolistic importers of South Amerea* 'meat." The Government on Ist December-if distributing £165,000,000 to holders of 5 per cent. War Loan who did not con* vert, aha also £50,000,000 interest. The Government is - also repayinz £140,000,000 Treasury bonds.. The; Treasury will receive the second instalment of the new 3i per - cent. <:on« version amounting to £150,000,000; also new 2 per cent. Treasury bond* amounting to £140,000,000. The difEer-r ence of £70,000,000 will be found by: normal bill operations. . The Government saves i&28,000,000i on the next half-yearly payment of 3J per cent. conversion loan.
