THREE BAGS MISSING
REMUERA'S MAIL
In some mysterious manner three bags of registered mail disappeared from the mail-room of the liner Remuera during her voyage from London to Wellington, ending on 2nd October. The records show that the missing bags contained 46 packets tor Wellington and U for Auckland, and nine collective packets for Wellington and nineteen for Auckland. The value of the missing packets is not yet assessed, but probably a good deal of the mail comprised drafts and other documents of which duplicates have since, .reached New Zealand by another mail. . The Remuera's mail-room was opened w^i-°i cc officiaHy between London and WeiUngton, at Curacao, Dutch West Indies, where mail bags were landed, the seals being replaced on the door iv the usual way by the. officer in charge The postal authorities in Wellington have since been in communication with the London offices, but so far nothing has been learned to give any trace of the missing mail bags.
