MANY ACCIDENTS
AMBULANCE KEPT BUSY
The City Ambulance was . kept un usually busy during the week-end— eight accident cases being attended^to between. 4 o'clock Ton Saturday, after, noon and midnight on Sunday. Several people received broken limbs "as the result of falls, but otherwise'- the injuries. were not serious. A child, ag-qS 2, Dale Weggery, of 72, Hopper street, put some caustic soda into his mouth on Saturday; afternoon, but" hisparents found what had. happened before lie had time to swallow any of-it.- Ho received medical ' attention/ and it is stated that the burns to his-mouth are not serious. ' ..:'"
About 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon Mr. D. S. Reid, M.P. for Eaglan, was knocked down by a motor-cycle in Willis. street and received a lacerated wound- to his right eye, abrasions to the right hand,- and slight concussion. He was taken to his lodgings by the City Ambulance.
The following received: attention by the City Ambulance and. were taken to hospital:—A. Brown, a painter, who received a fractured left leg as the result of slipping on a lawn at bis home at. 114, Randwick road, Lower' Hutt, about 4.30 p.m.; Mrs. K. Dean, of 43, •Buckle street, who slipped on some stairs at her home at 11 p.m. on Saturday; Gordon Cain, a law clerk, of 9, Nevay, roaa, Miramar, who was knocked down by a motor-car shortly after- 8 p.m. on Saturday and received abrasions and concussion; Mrs. S; Satherley, of 11, Evelyn place, who received, head injuries as tho result of slipping and falling on Saturday afternoon; James Jack, an optical mechanic living at 104, j Yule street, who received an injury to his elbow as the result of falling over a bank at Porirua on Saturday afternoon. A gash over the left eye was sustained by G: Collins, of Petone, when he was struck by a cricket ball at Trafalgar Park, Lower Hutt, on Saturday afternoon. He was attended to by the City Ambulance, but.it was not necessary to take him to hospital. - - - CAR OVER BANK. As the result of a motor-car going over a bank at Boseneath at 5.30 a.m. to-day, W. H. Leathern, a news agent, of 8,. AVilliam street, suffered from shock. Alan R. Leathern, a presser, who was also in the car, received abrasions and slight shock. They were attended to by the City Ambulance and taken to a private residence.
