THE FUNERAL

The deep impression created in the minds of the citizens of "Wellington by the tragedy was evident at the funeral of the two victims this afternoon. The streets in the vicinity of the mortuary chapel in Taranaki street were lined | with people. Before the cortege left the mortuary chapel a service was conducted by the Eev. A. T. Bristed Page vicar of Miramar, who also conducted the service at the crematorium. The pall-bearers were members of the new-Jy-iormed aviation section of the Legion of Frontiersmen, of which both were members. Members of the legion also furnished a guard of honour. The two caskets were draped with the Union Jack, and were almost hidden by flowers. On top of each hearso was a flowerbedecked miniature aeroplane. About sixty motor-cars formed the cortege. Among those who attended the funeral were the Minister of Defence (the Hon. J. G-. Cobbe), representing the Government; Squadron-Leader T. 11. ."Winces (Director of Air Services), representing the civil aviation branch of the Defence Department; the Mayor, Mr. T. C. A. Hislop, president of the "Wellington Aero Club; .SquadronLeader G. L. Stedman, pilot-instructor to the club; Flight-Lieutenant G. B. Bolt, pilot-engineer; Mr. A. "W. jSTisbet, secretary of the club; and many other club members and committee members. Chas. Begg and Co., Ltd., the employers of Mr. King, were represented by members of the management and staff, and Crawley, Ridley, and Co., Ltd., employers of Mr. Gresser, by Mr. D. H. Taylor, managing director, the heads of departments, and other members of the staff.

The "Wellington Returned Soldiers' Association was represented by the Eev. Brannvell Scott and Mr. J. Spence (secretary), and the Wellington branch of the Nayy_ League, ]>£ Mr. E. Darroch.
