. • (To the Editor.) .Sir,—l would like you to publish the death rate por thousand of population for the past two or three years of the chief citiea of Australia and New Zealand. The Census and Statistics Office has furnished the following tables giving the death rates of the principal cities of Australia and New Zealand:— Death. V. Vif i T cx Plalued that WeUington has the lowest crude rate (usually) among the principal cities of New Zealand' and Australia. Crude rates are those almost invariably used. The standardised rates however, show WeUington to rank below any of the other three principal New Zealand urban areas from a health, point of view. Wellington's low crude rate is due to the "younger" age-constitution of her population by comparison with Auckland Chnstchurch, and Dunedin ' '
