BRULETTE'S WALK-OVER

THE JOCKEY, CLUB CUP

(Heceived 28th October, 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, 27th October. On the second day of the Newmarket Second October Meeting Lord "VVoolavington's Trench-bred four-year-old baymare, Brulette, by Bruleur from Seaweed, was granted a walk-over in the Jockey Club Cup, a sweepstakes with 500 soys added, and run over the Cesarewitch Course, two miles and a quarter. Fourteen horses had been entered, including one sealed entry, but Brulette alone carried on her engagement. - , ■ Walk-overs have occurred previously in the Jockey Club Cup, which is confined to entire horses and mares, but the last occasion was in 1897, when Count Sehomberg had to accept such a victory. Horses to walk over in earlier years were Buccaneer (1892), Wild Monk (1890), and Carlton (1887). On many occasions there have been only two runners, winners in such races . since the 1897 walk-over being Bachelor's Button (1906), Eedium (1908), Amadis (1909), Willonyx (1911), Aleppo (1912), Son-in-Law (1914), Gay Lord (1919), Tranquil (1923), and Invershin (1928). There have been, three nmners each year since 1928, the respective winners being Fairway (1929), Brumeux (1930), and Noble Star (1931).
