GANPAT LOSES RAGE
A PROTEST IS UPHELD
; A protest against Ganpat's being declared the winner of the Durie Hack Handicap at Wanganui on Thursday was lodged on Saturday by C. Jackson, ownertiainer of the second placed horse, Aga Khan, and the Judicial Committee announce,d during the afternoon that the protest must be upheld. ' *
The ground of the protest/wa^ that Ganpat wjas not'eligible to race'among hacks, as he had won £535 in first'placings, that is £35 above the limit. This was found to be correct, and Ganpat was therefore disqualified, Aga Khan being awarded the rac>, with Carfex second and Gay Court third. The dividends had been paid out on Thursday, hence it was too late to make any change as to their allocation. ,Mrs. T. Huiley, the owner of'.,Ganpat, was under a misapprehension when she. purchased the gelding in the autumn, and was exonerated from blame. - s
