WRESTLING
WHITMAN'v. NAYLER TO-NIGHT.
Judging by the booking since the box ; t-lan opened at Claridge's, Makers street last week, it is evident that there will be a large attendance of the public to witness to-night's wrestling contest between Hughie Whitman and Len Nayler. The former is middleweight champion of Australia and lias exceptionally good credentials as a wrestler, while Nayler, who hails trom Auckland, has displayed remarkably good form in all his professional bouts The match W iH tak e place at the Show btadium, and is being promoted by the Nafconal Sporting Club, Inc., by courtesy of the Dominion of New Zealand Wrestling Union.. Both Nayler and Whitman have ability to recommend them. The latter has the distinction of being the only middleweight m Australia to defeat the oncerenowned Indian wrestler, Ali Sunni, who held the welter, middle, and light-heavy-weight championships of New Zealand. In addition to this performance he has two draws with Anton Koolman to his credit, and those who saw him wrestle the Esthonlan last Wednesday night will realise that there is still very little difference between them; in fact, there are many who advance the opinion that, in proper physical condition, Whitman will succeed in defeating Koolman when they meet again The Australian stated' to-day that he is now in perfect shape and has no alibi to offer in the event of being defeated by Nayler. The latter is now a great favourite in Wellington, his attractive displays against Koolman having won him a name as a cyclonic wrestler with wonderful powers of endurance. Prices for to-night's bout are reasonable. Further particulars 1 are advertised in, this issue.
