THE KING'S SYMPATHY
The Governor-General has received tho following telegram from His Majesty the King in connection with the earthquake:—
"The Queen and I are distressed to hear of this further series of earthquake shocks. We are thankful that no lives have been lost, but extend to those who havo suffered our heartfelt sympathy.—(Signed) George B.I." His Excellency has also received a message from tho Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs, which reads as follows:—
"Many thanks for your telegram of the 17th September. I am very sorry to learn that considerable damage has, been sustained, but. greatly' relieved' that there has been no loss of life."
