STADIUM MEETING

NO PROFESSIONAL CONTEST

Tho National Sporting Club (Inc.) was somewhat unfortunate in its first efforts to promote professional wrestling contests, for two of the wrestlers engaged by the club did not wrestle at the Winter Show. Stadium .last night. Originally the club had matched Tommy Thompson with "Bull" Montana, but the former did not come from Auckland, and Anton Koolman was substituted for him. Some hold-up then occurred ; with Montana, and last evening the club had to announce that no professional contest would be staged. It was decided to put on a number of amateur bouts, and in order to compenr sate the large number of people wlio attended there was no charge for admission. In addition to the bright amateur contests Anton ICoolman gave a highly interesting exhibition of holds, having P.) EaTOS as his partner.' v The following are the results of the bouts:'— L. Drew (Sst 121b) beat L- Grove (9st slb). Both boys gained.a fall, and the referee (Mr. T. Bidder) awarded the decision to Drew. ' L. Sbaiilding (9st 121b)' and L: Jacobs (9st 81b) wrestled-a draw, both securine a fall. ■ ~ A clever contest was provided by It. Greeks (Osfc 51b) and L.'Boe (9st 51b), tlie bout also being declared a draw, neither; gaining a fall. : : •■•..) R. Drury (Ost 121b) and H. Gray (Osti 121b) drew, with a fall each. • . i S.
