MEDITERRANEAN FLEET
TRIBUTE TO EFFICIENCY
KING'S MESSAGE TO
ADMIRAL

RUGBY, 25th August.
King George paid a tribute to the efficiency of the Mediterranean Fleet in a telegram to Admiral Sir Ernie Chatfield at the conclusion of the visit to the fleet of the Prince of Wales and Prince George. Hia message states:—
"On the conclusion of the visit of my two sons to the Mediterranean Fleet,. I wish to express my warmest appreciation of all your kindness to them. I ara glad you were able to arrange a visit to so many ships at Corfu, and that on the way to Malta they witnessed normal fleet training at sea.
"Prom all I hear, the Fleet under your command is in a high state of efficiency, and the tradition not only of the Mediterranean Fleet, but of the whole service, is worthily maintained."
The Commander-in-Chief replied: "With my humble duty I tliank Your Majesty for your most gracious message, which is deeply appreciated. That Their Royal Highnesses should have visited the Fleet and also watched its work at sea has given tho greatest encouragement to ua all. It will be our continuous endeavour to be worthy of tho confidence Your Majesty places in us."
