CIVIL SERVANT CHARGED

The arrest was made yesterday by Detective W. R. Murray of Waratana Ronata Ngahana, an officer at the Native Department. Ngahana appeared before Mr. E. Page, S.M., later in the afternoon on a charge that between 11th October, 1926, and 7th July, 1932, being a servant in the employ of the Native Trust Department, ho stole money amounting to £.602 0s sd, the property of the New Zealand Government.

In asking for a remand until next Wednesday, Detective-Sergeant Revell said that the accused had given the police every assistance, but there were still some further investigations to be made.

The remand was granted, bail being allowed in the accused's own bond of €650 and one surety of £650.
