NEW AMERICAN LINER

It is now announced that the 30,000----ton liner Manhattan, which is being completed at the Camden (N.J.) yard of the New York Shipbuilding Company for the United States Lines, will commence her maiden voyage from New York to Europe on 10th August, nearly two months ahead of the contract date. Her dock trials were carried out in May at Philadelphia, where her hull and bottom were painted, atid a few days ago sho underweut a further series of tests at tho mouth of the Delaware Eiver, when navigating instruments were adjusted. The full sea trials took place last month. The Manhattan is the_ largest vessel ever built in the United States, measuring 705 ft in length by 86ft beam. She will carry 1100 passengers in three classes, and is designed for a speed of 22 knots.
