The Press Association announces the death at Chicago of Mrs. Edith Eocke-' teller McCorinick, daughter of Mr. John D. Rockefeller, sen. ' The employees of the Wellington waterworks Department met recently; to bid farewell to Mr. ~D. X.: Cameroa on the occasion of his retirement on. superannuation after nearly 40 years* service with the Wellington City Corporation. In the unavoidable absences of the overseer, Mr. G. Jeffries (Blenheim), and J W McCoy (Auckland). : The death has occurred at Gisborua of Mr. William Bruce, :aged 88j a retired merchant and farmer (states a Press Association telegram). He was the last surviving member of the original small grazing- run holders in the Gisborne- district. The deceased was born, in Glasgow, and first came to NewZealand in 1864 in the Helenslea, Ha settled in Auckland as a contractor's clerk, and later tried his luck on the gold-fields. He then returned to-. Glasgow. After the., successful estab-: lishment of a wholesale oil busines*: there, Mr. Bruce returned to New Zea-; land, settling in. Gisborney ;where h%t: resided up to the time of: his death.
