He was the last surviving member of the original small grazing- run holders in the Gisborne- district. The deceased was born, in Glasgow, and first came to NewZealand in 1864 in the Helenslea, Ha settled in Auckland as a contractor's clerk, and later tried his luck on the gold-fields.
